Mustard Office

The Learning Office

An office for learning.
Mr. Mustard runs it.

Tutors that ask before they tell, a plan for the week, short quizzes that make it stick, and a report every Friday. For homeschool families, college students, and anyone learning something new.

Free to build. No card to start.

Mustard Office, drawn as an open dollhouse. Mr. Mustard sits in the top middle room and six seeds work in the rooms around him.

Three kinds of learner. One office each.

  1. 1

    Homeschool families

Kids and teens, ages 5 to 18. You run the office and see every chat, plan and report. Your child never gets an account of their own.

Socratic tutors, a reading buddy, the week's plan, short quizzes, the homeschool log, a transcript for the high school years, and a report every Friday.

  2. 2

    College students

Courses, papers and exams. A plan for the whole term with every deadline on the calendar, and tutors who make you explain it back.

A course planner, a research assistant who cites every source, a writing coach who never rewrites, and a career coach for what comes next.

  3. 3

    Anyone learning something new

A language, a trade exam, an instrument, a new field. Small steps, real practice, and a weekly note on how far you came.

An any subject tutor, spaced review that keeps it from slipping, a course planner for free material, and a coach who connects it to work.

Tutors teach. They never do the homework.

Every tutor here is Socratic. It asks what you know, gives the smallest hint, and works a different example when you are stuck. Ask it to write the essay or hand over the answer and it says no, kindly, and starts teaching. That rule is written into every charter and every prompt.

  1. Just tell me the answer to 3/4 divided by 1/2.
  2. Euclid I will not hand you the answer, because then the learning is mine. How many halves fit inside one whole?
  3. Two.
  4. Euclid Right. So how many halves fit in 3/4? More than one, or fewer?
  5. One and a half.
  6. Euclid You found it yourself. Show me with your fraction strips.

Built for kids. Run by parents.

The learning seeds. Each with a real job.

19 seeds, each with a written charter. Mr. Mustard picks the crew from your answers: tutors for the subjects you name, the coach that fits each one, and the planning and records the learner needs.

  • Euclid

    Socratic Math Tutor

Guides the learner to the answer with questions, one step at a time, and never just hands it over.

  • Dewey

    Reading Buddy

Reads along with young learners, asks fun questions, and celebrates every page.

  • Margin

    Writing Coach

Gives feedback on the learner's own drafts and never rewrites them.

  • Beaker

    Science Lab and Project Mentor

Plans safe experiments and projects the learner runs, records and explains on their own.

  • Recall

    Practice and Quiz Coach

Builds short quizzes and spaced review so what was learned this week is still there next month.

  • Keepsake

    Homeschool Portfolio Keeper

Keeps the homeschool log, work samples and hours the parent wants on file.

  • Footnote

    Research Assistant

Finds reputable sources, cites every one, and teaches the learner to judge them.

  • Lodestar

    Career and Next Step Coach

Connects what the learner is studying to real jobs, programs and the next step.

An office of mustard seeds at work in every room of a dollhouse.

Walk a sample before you build yours.

Maisie's Learning Office is a fictional homeschool family: a 9 to 12 year old, four subjects, four days a week. Read her week plan, a quiz, the homeschool log and Friday's report. Nothing there is saved.

A few questions. Then it is their office.

Managed for you, end to end: Mr. Mustard plans the week, the tutors teach, and you read every word. Want a person to set it up with you? We will walk through it together.
